Conor McGregor has hit back at his critics after pulling out of his UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler, having sustained a broken toe injury. McGregor, 35 hasn't stepped foot in the Octagon in almost three years now, but he was expected to face off against Chandler in a fight that has been two years in the waiting.
The supposed fight was due to take place on 30 June, however, McGregor has chosen to pull out of the fight having suffered a fracture on his toe.
"We had a lapse in concentration and engaged in a training session without wearing the full protective gear and I hit the toe off the elbow and broke the toe clean. It needs a few weeks, that’s it,” said McGregor in a post on Instagram.
Since revealing the injury to the public, the Irishman has been brutally mocked by many on social media.
"You don’t need a pinkie toe for a fight lol. Chicken," slammed Islam Makhachev, the UFC Lightweight Champion.
Furthermore, Rafael Dos Anjos, who was once criticised by McGregor for pulling out of a fight stated, "That’s the difference between me and you Conor, you finally got exposed. You got a pinky toe injury while I got a broken foot."
Not just the pros, even many fans have been trolling McGregor, regarding the severity of the injury, however 'Mystic Mac' seems to have hit back at his critics in a social media post, claiming that he will not enter a fight 'hurt'.
