Patrick Mahomes was seen limping during the Kansas City Chiefs vs Chicago Bears game on Sunday. Fans wondered if he is injured.
With the Chiefs up by 31-0 at the Arrowhead Stadium, Mahomes caught his right ankle and was struggling. However, the star quarterback stayed on the field. Apparently, Chicago pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue hit the Super Bowl MVP's right leg and he was in pain immediately.
Kansas City fans expressed their concern on social media. "Oh no: #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is limping after getting his right ankle rolled up on…" a Twitter user said.
"I hate to see that, I hope patrick mahomes is ok, injury his ankle," another one added. "Mahomes injury. Praying nothing serious ??," a third one tweeted.
The Chiefs were leading 34-0 at one point close to half-time. With the win in their hands, coach Andy Reid might want to sit Mahomes and send in his backup - Blaine Gabbert. The 2022 MVP had already racked up more than 270 passing yards for two touchdown passes. He and tight end Travis Kelce are two key players of the home team's offense.
Kelce missed the first game of the season. However, he came back in week 2 with a touchdown.
Patrick Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Kansas City Chief's Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in January. The star quarterback was replaced by Chad Henne.
