Pickleball has become a sensation worldwide and is now the fastest-growing sport in the USA. Now, artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to revolutionise the game. Recently, comedian Tanmay Bhat revealed that he and his friend had developed an AI-powered app that will help people play pickleball.
The app aims to make the sport more accessible to people of all skill levels by simplifying its playing style. Pickleball's popularity is due to its less complicated style compared to traditional racquet sports. However, mastering the game's nuances can be challenging for beginners. It is here that AI-powered apps can significantly help with this.
“I have been playing pickleball for the last six months. I love pickleball. I have a gang I play pickleball with in Mumbai and it’s the same six to eight people that come to play pickleball. A month ago I said guys we should have out own app that can keep tab on who’s won how many games at pickleball," Bhat said in a podcast.
“We should have our own tournament where team’s of two . We play each other, there should be a round robin, semifinal and final. So they were like how to do it.
“Then I pinged a friend of mine who’s an engineer and I sat with him on Claude and then we just made the app. He’s helping me deploy , he’s helping me do all that and to get it on my phone.
“We just say we haven’t made it. I just describe the problem. I use simple English to describe the problem. Like I need to be able to enter names of my friends, create teams, create a round robin table and then just input score and then move on after two rounds, semifinal and final.”
The name of the app is yet to be revealed.
Recently, Pickleball League Asia Private Limited in association with The Times Group launched the Pickleball World Rankings (PWR) at a grand event in Dubai on July 24. PWR will improve sports governance and future longevity by uniting regional groups under a single, cohesive structure.
