KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash at the Castle
  • A former WWE Champion will challenge Cody
  • It be an I Quit Match
The WWE action will return to the UK and the company will be hosting two shows in Scotland next week. The action will start with Smackdown, scheduled to take place on Friday (June 14). Smackdown will be followed by Clash at Castle, WWE's first premium live event in Scotland. This will be the second instalment of the Clash at the Castle. Both the shows will take place at Ovo Hydro in Glasgow.
The match card is stacked for the premium live event and the WWE fans are eagerly waiting for the show. A week before the show, WWE has confirmed a title match involving Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against AJ Styles.
With AJ already getting a title match against Cody at Backlash, not many expected him to get another match for at least a year. But AJ had other plans. The former WWE Champion teased retirement on last week's Smackdown and asked Cody to come out during his speech.
Styles, a two-time WWE Champion, attacked Cody during the main event segment to earn a title match. Cody raised the stocks for the match as it will be an I Quit Match between the two superstars. With the other member of O.C. accompanying Styles, he has an advantage over the present champion.
What is an I Quit Match?
The I Quit Match cannot end via pinfall or submission. A superstar has to say "I Quit" to end the match. It's a no-disqualification match and outside interference is allowed. A superstar can use foreign objects to his advantage and force his opponent to say "I Quit."
Other matches announced for Clash at the Castle
WWE announced the first match for Clash at the Castle last month and Triple H revealed that Drew McIntyre will challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. The match between the two superstars is expected to be the main event.
Drew is expected to end his wait to win a title in front of his home fans. He fell short against Roman Reigns in the main event of the previous Clash at the Castle.
Piper Nevin will challenge Bayley for the WWE Women's Championship in her home country. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill will defend their Women's Tag Team Championship against the teams of Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark and The Unholy Union. Sami Zayn will put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Chad Gable.
