Google is set to launch its Pixel 9 series in India on August 14, with two models, the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, already listed on Flipkart. Despite expectations of four models being launched globally, the Flipkart listing suggests that only these two models might be available in India.
The Pixel 9 Pro series is expected to offer significant upgrades over its predecessors but with higher price tags. The Pixel 9 Pro is rumored to start at $999 (approximately Rs 83,867), the same as the Pixel 8 Pro. However, the Pixel 9 Pro XL could be priced at $1,200 (around Rs 1,01,000), marking a $200 increase from last year’s model. If Google follows previous pricing trends, the Indian price for the Pixel 9 Pro could be significantly higher than in the U.S., potentially by around Rs 23,000.
The base Pixel 9 is expected to launch at around $900 (approximately Rs 75,556), though U.S. prices don’t always directly translate to Indian pricing. For example, the Pixel 8 Pro, which launched at $999 in the U.S., was priced at Rs 1,06,999 in India for the 128GB variant.
Interestingly, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold might maintain the same price as its predecessor, offering a potentially more attractive option in the premium foldable smartphone market.
As for the specifications, the Pixel 9 Pro is anticipated to feature a 6.3-inch display, 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. The camera setup is expected to receive significant upgrades, with a 48-megapixel telephoto lens and a 42-megapixel front camera.
A recent video leak showcased the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s design, highlighting a geometric pattern on the back, although the screen remained off, suggesting it might have been a prototype.
