After Microsoft announced a new search feature called 'Recall' for Windows PCs last night, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to remember and retrieve virtually everything you see and do on your computer, a clip of Microsoft's Satya Nadella explaining this photographic memory feature is going viral on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). While some Windows users are excited to use this feature, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has once again targeted Microsoft for the new AI capabilities in Windows PCs.
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft's CEO Nadella talked about some new smart features coming to computers. One cool feature he mentioned is called 'Recall.' It lets your computer take pictures of what's on your screen all the time and use special technology to help you find stuff easily.
Replying to the viral video of Satya Nadella explaining the Recall feature, shared by a user on X, Musk said: “This is a Black Mirror episode. Definitely turning this “feature” off.” Meanwhile, Microsoft said that it will protect users’ privacy by giving them the option to filter out what they don’t want tracked.
On Monday, the tech giant revealed an upgraded version of Copilot, its AI assistant, with the latest GPT-4o to take on Google's Gemini AI.
"We introduced the world to a new category of Windows PCs designed for AI, Copilot+ PCs," the company said. According to software giant, Copilot+ PCs are super fast and smart Windows computers. They have new powerful chips that can do over 40 trillion operations per second. Plus, they can run all day on one battery charge.
These PCs give you access to really advanced AI tools. You can create refine AI images in near real-time directly on the device using Cocreator, and bridge language barriers with Live Captions, translating audio from 40+ languages into English.
"These experiences come to life on a set of thin, light and beautiful devices from Microsoft Surface and its OEM partners Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Samsung, with pre-orders beginning today and availability starting on June 18. Starting at $999, Copilot+ PCs offer incredible value," the company said.
