Women's Reservation Bill Introduced By Law Minister Arjun Meghwal On First Day Of New Parliament

Law Minister, Arjun Ram Meghwal presented the Women’s Reservation Bill in the first session of the New Parliament Building. He gave a brief on the importance of the bill and said that this is a historic bill. The Women’s Reservation Bill presented in the Lok Sabha proposes that 1/3rd of seats in Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabhas, and Delhi assembly are to be reserved for women. It also proposes that 1/3rd of the seats of the reserved seats within the quota for women are to be allocated to women from the ST or SC communities. Its implementation will be after a delimitation exercise and the reservation is proposed to be effective for 15 years.
