Another incident involving Air India came to light after a PhD scholar, Pooja Kathail, shared her ordeal on social media. Pooja, who was going to attend a wedding, found herself without luggage due to an apparent oversight by the airline. In her viral post, Pooja shared how Air India failed to load her luggage, leaving her without an attire for the event. The post quickly gained attraction, garnering over 14,000 views and prompting a response from the airline.
“Took a direct flight sfo->blr yesterday and Air India never loaded my suitcase on the plane. It's been 36 hrs, and still no delivery estimate. And it took 40 tries to get them to even pick up the phone. Going to a wedding tomorrow and don’t have any clothes,” she wrote in her post on X.
Responding to the backlash, Air India expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and requested Kathail to provide further details for investigation. “Dear Ms Kathail, we truly sorry for the delay and regret the inconvenience caused. Please DM us your PNR, PIR copy and bag tag for us to check with our airport/baggage team and get back to you with an update,” the airline wrote in their reply.
Despite assurances from the airline, a few hours after Pooja made another post expressing frustration at the lack of communication regarding her missing belongings. In response to this, the airline said, "Dear Ms. Kathail, we have already conveyed the details to our baggage team for review. Please allow us some time to gather the necessary information and provide you an update."
The incident has sparked debates over the airline's service reliability, with many social media users sharing similar incidents. Criticism ranged from delays in baggage handling to concerns over customer service and overall flight experience. "Inadequate baggage handling seems to be a recurring issue," commented one user. Another user added, "Customer service needs a serious overhaul; it's disappointing to see such lapses."
