?6 Indian batsmen to win Orange Cap in IPL

Sachin Tendulkar became the first-ever Indian batsman to win the Orange Cap in IPL. The former Mumbai Indians captain piled up 618 runs in IPL 2010. Sachin only played one T20I for India despite his superb form in IPL.

Sachin Tendulkar also excelled on the captaincy front in IPL 2010 and captained Mumbai Indians to the final of the season. MI lost to Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2010 final. Sachin retired from IPL after winning the IPL 2013 trophy under Rohit Sharma's leadership.

Robin Uthappa

After a long wait of four seasons, an Indian batsman once again won the Orange Cap when Robin Uthappa finished the IPL 2014 season with 660 runs. He was part of Kolkata Knight Riders in that season. Uthappa continued to play for KKR till IPL 2019.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli became the third Indian batsman to win the Orange Cap in IPL 2016. The former RCB skipper shattered all records and piled up 973 runs in the season. Kohli's tally included four centuries.

Virat Kohli also excelled on the captaincy front and captained Royal Challengers Bangalore to the final of IPL 2016. The Bengaluru-based franchise lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. Kohli stepped down as RCB's captain after IPL 2021.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul enjoyed a dream run with the bat during his four-year stint with the Punjab Kings. He won the Orange Cap in 2020 for scoring 670 runs in the season. Punjab failed to qualify for the second round under his leadership.

KL Rahul was among the runs in IPL 2022 as well. Leading Lucknow Super Giants in the season, Rahul scored 616 runs to finish at the second spot. Rahul is expected to win Orange Cap once again in his career.

Ruturaj Gaikwad became the third batsman from CSK to win the Orange Cap. Playing his second IPL season, Ruturaj scored 635 runs in IPL 2021. His tally included one century. CSK went on to win the IPL title with a win over KKR in the final.

Shubman Gill became the sixth Indian batsman to win the Orange Cap in IPL. The Gujarat Titans opener piled up 890 runs in the season to finish at the top spot. His tally included three centuries and four half-centuries.

Shubman Gill's superb show with the bat saw him being named the captain of Gujarat Titans for IPL 2024. He has been given the charge after Hardik Pandya moved back to Mumbai Indians. Gill has led his state team, Punjab.
