Dylan Willows, a popular British Columbia radio host, has died at the age of 44 after a long battle with cancer. Willows was a well-known DJ at The Zone 91.3 in Victoria. The news of his passing was announced by The Zone on social media.
"Zoner friends and family. It is with the biggest broken heart that we tell you we've lost our brother, Dylan Willows," the post said. "He put up a hell of a fight against the cancer, after a lifetime of being an amazing radio host, local music crusader, and all around great human being."
"We miss him indescribably, and we know you do, too. The Zone, and this city, will never be the same. Despite his decades on the radio, Dylan was a very private person, and we ask that you continue to respect that privacy with regard to his family. Take good care of you. Hug your friends and family. It's all about love," the post added.
Willows was diagnosed with Stage 4 uveal melanoma, a rare form of ocular cancer. Earlier this year, he informed his listeners about his diagnosis and announced his decision to step down.
Following his demise, many fans took to social media to pay tribute.
"I miss hearing his voice but appreciate the old clips you still play. Sending love to the Zone team as this will be a hard time for all," one person wrote.
Another expressed, "I’ve never enjoyed listening to a radio morning show more, than when him and Jason were together. I could be in a bad mood on my way to work any day, and those two would find a way to make me laugh and smile every time. My thoughts are with the whole zone family as well as Dylan’s today. Rest in peace big D."
A third person commented, "Sending our love and condolences to our friends at The Zone, and all of Dylan's family and friends. Rest in peace, Dylan."
