The Aprilia RS 457 will be officially unveiled tomorrow in India. The bike was already showcased earlier ahead of the Misano GP, and with the unveil tomorrow Aprilia will also commence its official entry into the space of 400-500cc performance motorcycles in India.
The latest RS might feature a smaller capacity engine but with looks and chassis trickling down from the bigger sibling the RS 660, performance and ride and handling capability are expected to be agile, precise, and quite fun. The new Aprilia RS 457 promises to shake up the competition in our market which includes the Kawasaki Ninja 400, KTM RC 390, and the Yamaha YZF-R3 (yet to be launched). Aprilia RS 457: Engine and Transmission Specs

Aprilia has gone all out guns blazings with the new RS bike. The Italian marque has developed a new parallel-twin engine that is nestled inside a stiff aluminum frame and the crankcase serves as the stressed member of the chassis. The engine gets double overhead camshafts and four-valve for each cylinder, and the cumulative power output of the Aprilia RS 457 is rated at 47bhp, torque figures are yet to be unveiled. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox and quick-shifter as well.

To efficiently churn out all that power, Aprilia has equipped the RS 457 with ride-by-wire throttle. There are also three ride modes, Rain, Eco, and Sport. Reportedly, these ride modes will modulate the power delivery and traction control of the bike, however, power output will remain the same throughout.
