Honda Records Growth of 12% In FY24, Sells Over 48 Lakh Motorcycles And Scooters

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India ended the financial year 2023-2024 on a high note with sales of 48,93,522 units. This is a growth of 12 percent when compared to the same period in the previous year.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is one of the biggest two-wheeler manufacturers in the Indian market. The manufacturer recently crossed a milestone of selling six crore units in India and now ending the financial year on a high note. The Japanese automaker recorded sales of 48,93,522 units in FY24. This translates to a growth of 12 percent when compared to the same time in the previous year.
Meanwhile, HMSI sold 3,86,455 units in March 2024. This includes domestic sales of 3,58,151 units and exports of 28,304 units. When compared to the same period during the previous year, the brand has registered a growth of 81 percent in domestic sales while exports grew by 95 percent. This growth can be credited to models like Activa and Shine sold in the Indian market.
Besides Activa and Shine, the brand also has models like SP160, Hornet 2.0, Unicorn, Shine 125, Livo, CD110 Dream, SP125, and CB200X in its motorcycle lineup. The scooter lineup includes models like Activa 125, Dio 125, and Dio.
The Japanese automaker also sells bigger motorcycles through its BigWing dealerships. This includes models like CB350, XL 750 Transalp, NX500, Highness CB350, CB350RS, CB300F, CB300R, and the Gold Wing Tour.
Meanwhile, Hero Motocorp ended the financial year 2024 by selling 56,21,455 units of motorcycles and scooters, marking a growth of 5.49 percent from the previous year's sales of 53,28,546 units. The brand also experienced a 16 percent growth in its global business sales during that fiscal year, with a 10% growth in the fourth quarter (Jan-Mar 2024). However, the two-wheeler manufacturer's sales dropped by 5.57 percent in March 2024, with only 490,415 units sold.
Royal Enfield concluded the financial year 2023-24 by selling a total of 912,732 motorcycles. This shows a growth of 9 percent compared to the previous financial year. In addition, the brand reported a 14 percent growth in the domestic market over the same period. Specifically, in March 2024, the company sold 75,551 units which is a 5 percent growth compared to the 72,235 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
