With electric scooters riding the higher wave in the Indian two-wheeler industry, the demand for EVs is skyrocketing to new highs every year. Now, the Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy is gearing up to unveil its latest electric scooter, the Dot One, on December 15. Expected to be priced at less than Rs 1 lakh, the new scooter will position itself in direct competition with the Ola S1 X and others in the same category.
The Dot One, a variant of the One e-scooter, is likely to get a fixed battery pack with a capacity of 3.7kWh, offering a claimed IDC range of 160km. While specific power details are yet undisclosed, expectations are for a slightly less potent motor than the One's 8.5kW and 72Nm unit.
In terms of exterior design, the Dot One is likely to closely resemble the One, and Simple promises 'over 30 litres' of storage without specifying the exact capacity. While the scooter may not include disc brakes, it could feature drum brakes equipped with CBS. The expected suspension setup comprises a telescopic unit at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Noteworthy features of the new Simple Dot One encompass a touchscreen instrument cluster with app connectivity. Additional anticipated features consist of all-LED lighting, navigation, Bluetooth integration for phone connectivity, message notifications, and various other functionalities.
Positioned at a competitive sub-Rs 1 lakh price point, the Dot One faces limited rivals in its price category, primarily the Ola S1 X. Simple has used terms like "launch" and "debut" in its literature, creating some ambiguity, but all will be clarified on December 15 when the Dot One is officially revealed.
