New Delhi: FASTag is a device that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to make toll payments directly from a prepaid account linked to it. It's attached to the windshield of your vehicle, allowing you to pass through toll plazas smoothly. FASTag remains valid for 5 years, and once purchased, you only need to recharge or top up the FASTag as needed.
To ease traffic congestion at toll plazas, the Government of India (GOI) has mandated that all vehicles traveling through toll plazas across the country must pay toll charges using FASTag. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) program called FASTag on toll plazas on national highways.
FASTag is required for both private and commercial vehicles. To use the ETC-enabled lane at a toll plaza without any inconvenience, it's important to ensure that there is sufficient balance in your FASTag wallet.
Steps To Check FASTag Account Balance With NHAI Wallet:
Step 1: Launch the 'Play Store' or 'App Store' on your smartphone.
Step 2: Download the 'My FASTag App' on your mobile device. This app is compatible with both iOS and Android platforms.
Step 3: Enter your login credentials.
Step 4: You can now check your balance amount.
How To Check FASTag Account Balance via Missed Call Alert Facility:
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a 'Missed Call Alert Facility' for users to check their FASTag balance. Individuals who have registered their mobile numbers with NHAI Prepaid Wallet can check their balance by giving a missed call to +91-8884333331. However, users who have linked their FASTags to other prepaid wallets will not be able to avail of this facility. The number is toll-free, and the service is available round the clock.
In cases where more than one vehicle is linked to NHAI's prepaid wallet, the SMS will display the cumulative balance of all tags assigned to the vehicles.
