ITR verification online is a crucial step to complete the process of filing your Income Tax Return (ITR). It needs to be done within 30 days from filing the ITR; otherwise, the income tax department may consider your return as invalid.

When you file your ITR, the income tax department receives it, but the actual processing or checking starts only after verification. This verification process is crucial for your ITR.

Here's a Step-By-Step Guide for Online ITR Varification

Step 1. Click on "e-Verify Return" on the home page of the e-filing portal.
Step 2. On the e-Verify Return page:
- Enter your PAN.
- Select the relevant Assessment Year.
- Enter the Acknowledgment Number of the filed ITR.
- Enter your Mobile Number and click Continue.
Step 3. Enter the 6-digit Mobile OTP received on the entered mobile number and click 'Submit.'
- Note: The OTP is valid for 15 minutes with 3 attempts allowed.
Step 4. If verifying the ITR after 30 days of filing, click 'Ok.'
Step 5. For delayed verification, select the Reason of Delay from the dropdown and click Continue.
STEP 6. Choose the e-Verification mode to proceed.
After completing the ITR verification online, a success message will display with the verification date. Make sure to note the Transaction ID and EVC (if applicable) for future reference. A confirmation message will also be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number on the e-Filing portal.
