Chennai Likely to Get Two New Vande Bharat Trains on September 24

Chennai to get new Vande Bharats: While the semi-high speed train between Triunelveli and Chennai ?will bring the travel time between the two cities down to less than 8 hours from current 11-12 hours, the new Vande Bharat between Chennai and Vijayawada will reduce the travel time between the cities to 6 hours 40 minutes.

Chennai: Chennai is expected to get two new Vande Bharat Trains- between Vijayawada and Chennai and between Tirunelveli and Chennai- by this weekend. The new set of Vande Bharat Express trains are likely to be flagged off on Sunday, September 24. These will be among the nine Vande Bharat Express trains that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate after his Mann ki Baat on Sunday.
While the semi-high speed train between Triunelveli and Chennai will bring the travel time between the two cities down to less than 8 hours from current 11-12 hours, the new Vande Bharat between Chennai and Vijayawada will reduce the travel time between the cities to 6 hours 40 minutes.

Tirunelveli-Chennai Vande Bharat Express

This is the second Vande Bharat Express for Tamil Nadu after the one between Chennai-Coimbatore. The train will take 7 hours 50 minutes to cover 652.49 km distance at an average speed of 83.30 kmph The Vande Bharat train is expected to start its maiden journey from Tirunelveli towards Chennai Egmore at 12.30 p.m. on Sunday.
Stops: The train will have stops at Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy and Villupuram.
Composition: As of now, the train will have eight coaches. Based on the demand in the future, the railways may augment it.
Schedule: The train will run on all days except Tuesday.
Timings:
It will leave Tirunelveli at 6 a.m. and reach Chennai Egmore at 1.50 p.m. It will stop at Virudhunagar (7.13 a.m.), Madurai (7.50 a.m.), Dindigul (8.40 a.m.), Tiruchi (9.50 a.m.) and Villupuram (11.54 a.m.) and Tambaram (1.13 p.m.).
In the return direction, the train will leave Chennai Egmore at 2.50 p.m. and reach Tirunelveli at 10.40 p.m. It will stop at Tambaram (3.18 p.m.), Villupuram (4.39 p.m.), Tiruchi (6.40 p.m.), Dindigul (7.56 p.m.), Madurai (8.40 p.m.) and Virudhunagar (9.13 p.m.).

Vijayawada-Chennai Vande Bharat Express train

The Vande Bharat Express between Vijayawada and Chennai will run via Renigunta and will cater to passengers headed to Tirupati. It will cover the distance in six hours 40 minutes. After its virtual launch by PM Modi, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy are likely to flag off the train from Vijayawada Railway Station at 12.30 p.m., South Central Railway (SCR) officials said on Wednesday.
Stops: It is likely to have stops at Renigunta, Gudur, Nellore, Ongole and Tenali.
