Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday made a bold assertion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would have been defeated by a margin of 2-3 lakh votes if Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had contested from Varanasi. Speaking at the 'Aabhaar Sabha' in Rae Bareli, an event organized to express gratitude to the voters for the party's success in Rae Bareli and Amethi, Rahul Gandhi emphasized the unity and collective effort of the Congress party in these constituencies.
"If my sister Priyanka Gandhi had contested the Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi, Narendra Modi would have lost by a margin of 2-3 lakh votes," he stated. He further remarked, "This time, the Congress party fought unitedly in Amethi, Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, and across the country. I want to tell the Samajwadi Party that your leaders stood together with Congress leaders in this fight."
In the recent elections, Rahul Gandhi secured a win in Rae Bareli, while Kishori Lal Sharma triumphed over former Union Minister Smriti Irani in Amethi.
Rahul highlighted the unity demonstrated by the Congress party and its allies during the elections in Uttar Pradesh and nationwide. He acknowledged the cooperative efforts of Samajwadi Party members, who worked alongside Congress workers without any hesitation or reservations.
"This victory is historical. I am proud to say that you all have sent a message across the nation that you want clean politics," Rahul Gandhi proclaimed. "We worked tirelessly for this outcome. We are grateful to the people of Rae Bareli for their support. We will continue to work for you with even greater enthusiasm."
Expressing pride in the significant victory and the clear message delivered by the people of Rae Bareli, Rahul underscored their desire for clean politics. He recognized the dedication of party members and thanked the residents of Rae Bareli for their unwavering support. He assured the voters that the party would continue to work with renewed vigor in response to their trust and confidence.
