Finally, we have a clearer picture of what is happening on June 23 between Sonakshi Sinha and her life partner Zaheer Iqbal. There is a celebration for sure on the evening of June 23, but not a wedding. An invitation has gone out from Sonakshi and Zaheer to their friends, which requests the invitee to “come celebrate” the couple’s togetherness “now that it (meaning their alliance) is official.”
A friend of Sonakshi tells Zoom, “I have received an invitation to celebrate with the couple on the evening of June 23. But there is no mention of an actual wedding. From what I know, they have already gone through a registered marriage, or may do so on the morning of June 23. But there is not going to be any elaborate wedding as such on the evening of June 23, just a party.”
Earlier in an interview with Zoom, Sonakshi's dad, Shatrughan Sinha opened up about the same and said, “I am in Delhi right now. After the election results, I flew down here. I haven’t spoken to anyone about my daughter’s plans. So your question is, is she getting married? The answer is that she hasn’t told me anything about it. Main bhi utna hi jaanta ho jitna main media maine padha hai (I only know as much about this as what the media has told me). If and when she takes me into confidence, my wife and I will give the couple my blessings. We wish her all happiness always.”
He further added, “We trust our daughter’s judgement completely. She would never make an extra-constitutional or illegal decision. As a consenting adult, she has the right to make her own decisions. Having said that, I would like to say that whenever my daughter gets married, I would like to be dancing right in front of the baaraat.”
