Blackpink's Jennie has made history yet again! The music video of Jennie's debut track SOLO has crossed 1 billion views on YouTube, making her the first female K-pop soloist to achieve this feat.

Jennie's Solo hit 1 billion views on YouTube

On February 29, Jennie's SOLO music video finally hit 1 billion views. With this, the Blackpink star became the first and the fastest female K-pop soloist to achieve this feat. Released on November 12, 2018, Jennie's solo debut song became an instant hit across the globe upon release. Written and produced by Teddy Park and 24, the groovy track revolves around the theme of independence after a break-up.
Aside from Jennie, only PSY, BTS and Blackpink are part of the 1 billion club in the K-pop industry. PSY, who hit 1 billion views with Gangnam Style in 2012, was the first Korean artist to achieve this feat, while Blackpink were the first K-pop group to do the same.

Jennie's professional life

On December 24 last year, just days before YG Entertainment confirmed that all four Blackpink members had decided not to renew their individual contracts with the K-pop label, Jennie announced the establishment of her own agency OA (ODD ATELIER). Following OA's launch, the rapper revealed that she plans to release her first full-length solo album by the end of 2024.
Jennie also made her long-awaited variety show comeback with Apartment 404 in February this year. Talking about her return to variety shows, the rapper said, "I normally liked investigative stories and I decided to star [on the show] after hearing that cast and staff members I like will be working together. Since this is my first variety show in a while, I think this will be a nice gift to fans."
