The Burning Sun Scandal shook up the South Korean entertainment industry in 2019. Now, the BBC has released a documentary in which they exposed chats between the culprits and revealed Goo Hara's involvement in the scandal.

On May 19, the BBC released an hour-long documentary on the Burning Sun Scandal. The docu-feature focuses on the female journalists who took on the task of investigating secret sex chat groups of prominent K-pop stars. In the documentary, the BBC shared a bunch of never-seen-before chats from the groups as well as a video of former BIGBANG member Seungri, who was the 'boss' of the sex chat rooms, threatening a woman.
Aside from sharing leaked chats, the BBC documentary also unveiled KARA star Goo Hara's crucial role in exposing those involved in the scandal. The late singer had helped a reporter, who was investigating the scandal, get a lead on the case by convincing Former F.T. Island member Choi Jong-hoon to tip her off on the senior police officer who had been "looking out for the gang." For the unversed, Choi Jong-hoon was part of the group chats where illegally taken sex videos were shared.

The Burning Sun scandal, also known as Burning Sun gate, was a 2019 entertainment and sex scandal that shook the entire Korean entertainment industry. Several South Korean celebrities, especially K-pop idols, and police officials were implicated in enabling and even running a secret sex chatroom.
Former BIGBANG member Seungri, Jung Joon-young, ex CNBLUE member Jonghyun, former Highlight star Junhyung and former F.T. Island member Jonghoon were part of the chat groups.
