One of the recent Malayalam films to have garnered unanimous praise and blockbuster success is Premalu.
Telugu audiences are eager to witness this Malayalam romantic comedy, set against the vibrant backdrop of Hyderabad, possibly hitting the screens in their language.
S S Karthikeya Oversees Dubbing Process:
SS Karthikeya, the son of legendary director SS Rajamouli, has taken up the task of bringing Premalu to the Telugu audience.
Currently overseeing the Telugu dubbing process, sources say Karthikeya has ensured that the dialogues maintain their native essence with subtle tweaks.
Some portions of the movie have already been successfully dubbed. Capitalizing on the Shivaratri weekend, the Telugu version of Premalu is slated for release in Telugu states on March 8th.
Having garnered attention from Telugu movie buffs who watched the Malayalam version with English subtitles in Hyderabad, anticipation is building among rural audiences as well.
With recent dubbed films like True Lover facing challenges at the Telugu box office, all eyes are now on how Premalu will fare in its Telugu avatar.
Premalu delves into the lives of Sachin (Naslen), Reenu (Mamitha Baiju), and their circle of friends, who have relocated from Kerala to Hyderabad.
The heart of the story revolves around Sachin's pursuit of Reenu's love and his endeavors to win her affection. Alongside Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, the film features Althaf Salim, Shyam Mohan M, Akhila Bhargavan, Meenakshi Raveendran, Sangeeth Prathap, and Shameer Khan in pivotal roles.
Having hit the screens on February 9, Premalu has stormed the box office in Kerala, emerging as a blockbuster.
Interestingly, its release preceded that of the Mammootty-starrer Bramayugam by a week, which also enjoyed success both commercially and critically.
The simultaneous release and the stark contrast in their genres have sparked discussions among netizens, who have likened the joint impact of Premalu and Bramayugam to the Barbenheimmer phenomenon. This amalgamation of their influence has been aptly dubbed Premayugam.
The film has also received praise and adoration from Telugu film enthusiasts and critics alike, particularly for its authentic portrayal of Hyderabad.
