Amravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday offered prayers at the Sri Venkateswara temple at nearby Tirumala. He was accompanied by his wife, son Nara Lokesh, daughter-in-law, and other relatives. Naidu took oath as the Chief Minister of AP for the fourth term and a day later he vowed to "cleanse" the Tirupati-Tirumala administration.
Speaking to reporters, Naidu alleged that there were irregularities in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which oversees the Venkateswara temple, during the erstwhile Jagan Mohan Reddy regime. The TDP supremo said he was committed to eliminating corruption and protecting 'Hindu Dharma' in Tirumala.
"I will start the purification of governance from Tirumala. Only the chanting of Govinda's name will remain in Tirumala," he said.
Naidu pledged to work tirelessly for a poverty-free society and to elevate Andhra Pradesh to the status of the number one state in India. He also warned that crimes and corruption would not be tolerated, promising accountability and transparency in governance.
"By 2047, the Telugu people will be number one in the world. I will make Andhra Pradesh the number one state in the country. Crime will not be tolerated... Political conspiracies will not be tolerated. We will protect the good and punish the bad," the TDP chief said.
The Chief Minister took a special flight to Tirupati last evening and then travelled by road to Tirumala, where he spent the night. Early Thursday morning, he offered prayers at the sacred hill temple.
Later today, Naidu is scheduled to return to Amaravati and take charge at the Secretariat. Among the files he will sign are those related to poll promises, teachers’ recruitment, and enhancements to social pension for beneficiaries.
The TDP-Jana Sena-BJP NDA alliance stormed back to power in the state in the recently concluded general elections in the state by winning 164 out of 175 assembly constituencies and 21 out of 25 Lok Sabha constituencies. The TDP chief was unanimously elected as the Chief minister designate by the NDA alliance and was sworn in as the new Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh at a special ceremony held at Vijayawada on Wednesday morning.
