Thane: Last night, a slab of a housing society in the Kalwa area of Thane collapsed, resulting in injuries to three individuals. Fortunately, more than 30 people were safely rescued from the scene.

In other news from Mumbai, a landslide caused by heavy rains led to the deaths of two people and left three others injured in Malshej Ghat, Thane district. The incident happened on Tuesday evening and caused big problems on the Kalyan-Ahmednagar highway.
A man and a young boy died, and a woman got hurt when a big stone fell on their auto-rickshaw. They were part of a family of five traveling from Mulund in Mumbai to Sangamner in Ahmednagar district. The heavy stone, weighing between 15-20 kg, badly damaged the vehicle.
Rahul Baban Bhalerao, 30, and his nephew, Swayam Sachin Bhalerao, 7, lost their lives in the accident, confirmed by assistant police inspector Lahu Tathe from Otur police station in Pune district. The 55-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Emergency services, like local police and rescue teams, quickly cleared the debris and helped the victims. The bodies of the deceased were taken to a hospital for post-mortem examinations. Otur police registered an accidental death report, and the case will be handed over to Tokawade police station in Murbad, as the incident happened in their area.
Traffic on the Kalyan-Ahmednagar highway was affected for a while because of the landslide. Local authorities said heavy rains caused a big part of the hillside to collapse, covering a part of the road and nearby homes with debris.
