OnePlus Says It Shared One Wrong Detail About OnePlus 12R At Launch, All Details

OnePlus clarifies a mistake in communication about OnePlus 12R's storage technology, admitting all models feature UFS 3.1 instead of UFS 4.0 as initially advertised.

OnePlus 12R is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

OnePlus has acknowledged a mistake in its communication regarding the storage technology used in the newly launched OnePlus 12R smartphone. While initially advertised as featuring UFS 4.0 storage in some variants, the company now clarifies that all OnePlus 12R models come equipped with UFS 3.1 storage.
OnePlus assures users that while the storage type is UFS 3.1, previously announced features like faster app launch and open app retention for up to 72 hours are still functional and tested extensively with UFS 3.1. Additionally, the device received T?V SUD certification for fluency over 48 months, indicating long-term performance regardless of the storage type.
This misstep might raise concerns about accuracy in future product launches. However, OnePlus' prompt clarification and apology could mitigate the impact. It remains to be seen how customers react to the news, and if it affects their perception of the OnePlus 12R's overall value proposition.
Starting at Rs 39,999 in India, the OnePlus 12R launched last month alongside the flagship OnePlus 12 (review). The device comes in two storage options: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 16GB RAM + 256GB storage.

OnePlus 12R Specifications and Features

OnePlus 12R is equipped with a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED ProXDR display with 1-120Hz dynamic refresh rates. The screen comes with a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 12R packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It is backed by a 5,500mAh battery unit that supports 100W SUPERVOOC fast charging technology.
For optics, the OnePlus 12R features a triple camera setup on the rear with an OIS-enabled 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro lens.
