The United States leads the world with the highest number of billionaires, followed closely by China, with a combined wealth totaling $7.4 trillion. A surprising addition to the list include Taylor Swift, who, after 17 years in the music industry, has amassed an estimated fortune of $1.1 billion.
Forbes recently published its annual list of the world's wealthiest individuals, showcasing a record-breaking 813 billionaires from the US, collectively worth $5.7 trillion.
China holds the second position, with 406 billionaires, or 473 including Hong Kong and Macau citizens. However, this marks the third consecutive year of decline in the number of Chinese billionaires. India follows with 200 billionaires, securing its place as the third-largest contributor to the list of ultra-wealthy individuals.
Among the top 20 richest individuals, 14 are Americans, with eight ranking in the top ten. Nonetheless, the wealthiest person globally remains French entrepreneur Bernard Arnault, with a staggering $233 billion fortune, primarily from overseeing the LVMH luxury fashion empire.
Elon Musk closely trails Arnault, with a fortune of $195 billion, largely attributed to his ventures in Tesla, SpaceX, and his recent acquisition of Twitter. Most of the wealthiest Americans have accumulated their wealth in the technology sector, exemplified by Sergey Brin, whose fortune surged to $110 billion as the president of Alphabet, Google's parent company.
Michael Dell, founder of Dell Technologies, saw his wealth increase to $91 billion, claiming the sixteenth spot on the list. China's billionaire count declined from 496 to 406, attributed to economic slowdown, a struggling property market, and political tensions.
Zhong Shanshan retains his title as the richest Chinese billionaire for the fourth consecutive year, ranking as the 24th richest person globally.
