Noida: Three men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to run over two Noida policemen with their SUV, according to police officials. The incident occurred near the Morna police outpost on June 8, where the accused, driving a Mahindra Thar SUV, reportedly approached the police personnel for directions.
However, when the officers stated they were unaware of the location, the men in the SUV became aggressive, hurling expletives and hitting the policemen with their vehicle. This resulted in injuries to both officers, following which the assailants fled the scene, stated a police spokesperson.
Subsequently, a case was registered at the Sector 49 police station, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects: Nitesh Gupta (22), Tushar Kalra (20), and Naveen Awana (21). Gupta and Kalra reside in Sector 41, while Awana lives in Sector 108, as per the spokesperson.
The FIR has been lodged under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace). If found guilty under IPC section 307, the offenders could face life imprisonment or up to 10 years in prison, along with a fine, stated the official. Legal proceedings in the case are currently ongoing, according to the police.
Similarly, a few weeks ago, a man named Prince Mavi, 25, was arrested in Delhi's Hari Nagar for a viral video showing him performing stunts near a university in Sector 125. Police seized his black Mahindra Thar and fined him Rs 35,000. SHO Pramod Kumar Singh noted the SUV's tinted windows, suggesting an attempt to intimidate commuters by braking suddenly.
The video, shared on social media, led Noida traffic police to identify Mavi through his registration number. Mavi faced fines for various violations, including rash driving. He admitted to making the video for fun after graduating from a Greater Noida college. Charges against him include endangering life and intentional insult.
