NEET 2024 Result Cancellation Plea in Supreme Court

NEET UG result cancellation and other 2 pleas were taken up in the Supreme Court on June 13. A vacation bench comprising of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta heard the matter. The petitioners requested NEET UG 2024 exam cancellation, retest and removal of grace marks. Of the three petitions, one was filed by Physics Wallah CEO-Alakh Pandey, who claimed that the NTA's decision to award grace marks was "arbitrary".
This comes soon after the vacation bench on June 11 issued a notice to NTA, admitting that the ‘sanctity of the exam’ seemed to be compromised. Supreme Court, however, in the earlier hearing had refused to stay the NEET counselling process, and asked the counsel to route the plea through the Chief Justice. The plea heard on June 11 was regarding NEET Paper Leak and was filed on June 1 – before the declaration of the result. That matter was given a fresh date of July 8. Counsel was allowed to request clubbing of all the pleas with the registry when the vacation of SC ends.
Today, the apex court will hear the pleas that are challenging the NEET UG results and the method adapted by NTA for the same. The hearing will begin at 10:30 am.

Isn't it the Centre's failure?" he said. The state education minister asserted that there had not been such cases when the medical entrance test was in the domain of the state under the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination board.Taking a dig at the media, he said, "While we have seen so many talk shows and panel discussions over alleged corruption in teaching recruitments (in the state)."Why the silence now? Isn't the future of lakhs of MBBS aspirants important for the country, for the state?" he asked. There had been so many investigations, so many arrests in connection with the teaching job recruitment, he said."We want punishment for the guilty and justice for thousands of teachers. But the issue of irregularities in an all-India medical entrance test should not be overlooked, brushed under the carpet. It involves the future of lakhs of candidates. Our future medical practitioners," he added on the sidelines of an education fair, organised by some private colleges. The NEET conducting agency NTA said in a statement earlier that many candidates received grace marks due to timing issues, which accounted for the unusually high scores. The agency also attributed higher cut-off marks to an increased number of test-takers, dismissing all allegations of foul play.Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan earlier rejected allegations of a paper leak in the NEET-UG examination, saying there is no evidence of it.Earlier in the day, Basu attended the inauguration of Education Interface 2024 which was organised by a forum of private higher educational institutes at the state-owned Netaji Indoor Stadium. NEET 2024: "Entire examination should be cancelled": Digvijay Singh demands probe into NEET-UG Exam

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Digvijay Singh on Friday demanded a probe into the alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-Undergraduate) exams and said that the entire exam should be cancelled.Taking to 'X', Singh wrote, "My demand is that the entire examination should be cancelled and it should be held as soon as possible and a completely impartial inquiry should be conducted into this matter under the new law passed by the Parliament and the culprits should be given the harshest punishment."The Congress leader further stated that the "scam" in the NEET-UG is "extremely serious." "The scam in NEET (UG)-2024 is extremely serious. This is the gigantic national form of the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, which not only casts doubt on the functioning of the National Examination Agency (NTA) but also shows it to be faulty and full of corruption. Despite the passing of The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 in Parliament in February 2024 and the enactment of strict laws in this regard, the nationwide scam by NTA in a major exam like NEET conducted for admission to medical colleges raises questions on the entire credibility of the government and the examination agency," he said."Should the government not seriously consider the following points? When the NEET exam was on May 5, 2024, how did its paper get leaked in Patna on May 4 itself and why did the government not take any action after an FIR was registered against the people caught in Patna on May 6?" said the Congress leader.-(ANI)
