Hyderabad: IT employees from Hyderabad called for a carry rally called 'Chalo Rajahmundry' in a bid to support jailed Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu. However, the police did not grant the techies permission for the rally and barricading and check posts have been set up near the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana border in view of the rally call.
Hyderabad techies planned to take out the car rally to Andhra Pradesh's Rajahmundry where former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was jailed in connection with the multi-crore skill development scam. However, the police refused permission for the rally as Section 144, prohibiting the gathering of more than four people , was effective.
"We have received information that IT employees from Hyderabad have planned to come to Rajahmundry to extend their support to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. No permission was given to them. Section 144 has also been imposed in Vijayawada city," NTR district ACP, Ramesh, was quoted by news agency ANI..
This comes a day after Chandrababu Naidu approached the Supreme Court challenging the high court's verdict that dismissed his petition that sought to quash the FIR registered against him in the skill development corruption case. Naidu was arrested on September 9. The allegations against him involve the alleged misappropriation of funds from the skill development corporation, which purportedly resulted in a substantial loss of more than Rs 300 crore to the state treasury.
