Mumbai: The city woke up to a cloudy sky with roads and trees soaked in water as rain in the city took a break. As per the forecast, the rains will return in the city on Friday after a two-day lull. A month ago, Mumbaikars were dealing with the scorching summer, prompting authorities to issue an alert for a heatwave. However, the monsoon has given a break to the residents from that heat. It has significantly brought down the mercury. The maximum temperature on Friday was recorded at 33.9 degrees Celsius.
After the onset of monsoon over Mumbai on June 9, ahead of the normal date of its arrival on June 11, the rains had stayed away from the metropolis for the last two days, turning the weather in the metropolis sultry.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, it will be generally a cloudy sky with light rain in the city on Friday. The trend will continue for the weekend, and the city will welcome the next week with the same cloudy sky and light rain or drizzle. The intensity of the rain will increase from June 18 and June 19.
