Washington: A shocking incident of parental torture and inhumane treatment of a child has come to light from Fayette county in Georgia where a couple has been arrested for abusing their 6-year-old daughter. The parents allegedly starved her, beat her and kept her locked zip-tied in a dog crate for hours and gave her dog food to eat. Police said no one in the entire house, including five kids and ten dogs, is malnourished as the girl was, reported CBS News.
Jacob Weight and Mimi Frost were arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault, strangulation, endangering the welfare of children and simple assault, Pennsylvania State Police announced. They walked out in handcuffs and while the mother remained mum, the father said, "I'm innocent, that's it." District Attorney Mike Aubele said this is one of the worst cases against a child he's ever seen, the report added.
The authorities were alerted on Jan 7 this year about an unresponsive 6-year-old girl after which they reached the place onl to witness the kid in a deplorable condition with trash, urine and faeces from the eight dogs living there throughout the house. The officials talked to the other kids who gave spine-chilling details of the treatment the minor kid had to endure for so long.
According to the CBS News report, the kis said the girl was being held in dog crate and was beaten multiple times. "Throughout our investigation, we realized that this little girl had suffered, for lack of a better way to put it, she had been tortured in that house. There were numerous abrasions on her body, open sores, she was believed to be septic," Aubele said, quoted the report.
The complaint talks about the abuse in detail with one teenager saying that the woman put the girl in the dog kennel naked and left her there overnight. "There was no heat in the house, only space heaters. When the family left the house, the teenager said Frost zip-tied the girl's hands and feet together and locked the kennel," the teenagr said, adding that Frost wouldn't give any food to the girl for days at a time.
The victim told the therapist that she slept every night in the dog cage and ate dog food and that Weight beat her and shot her in the legs with a BB gun. The complaints also accused the couple of beating the girl with a broom handle when she had accidents.
"We found evidence that this little girl had been in there, cage was zip-tied shut, there was a master lock on one side, she was unable to get out of the cage, apparently was punished anytime did get out of the cage to try to find food," Aubele said, the CBS News report stated.
Medical reports showed the victim having multiple skin abrasions, extensive bruising and open sores. "I worked for CYS, and I can't imagine what this little girl suffered and it's just awful. This little girl by the grace of God is alive," Aubele added.
