Chennai: Partial Cancellation of THESE Train Services Due To Line Block From May 15 to 30

Engineering works in Tirupati Yard from May 15 to 31, 2024, will disrupt train services, necessitating Line Block/signal Block. Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly during this period.

Chennai: In order to prioritise passenger safety and ensure the smooth operation of train services, significant changes are being implemented in the pattern of express train services due to ongoing engineering works in Tirupati Yard. The Chennai division of Southern Railway posted this notification on their official X handle. These changes will be effective from the 15 to the 31 of May 2024.

Partial Cancellation of Express Train Services:

1. Train No. 16057 (Chennai Central - Tirupati Sapthagiri Express): The train departing from Chennai Central at 06:25 am will be partially cancelled between Renigunta and Tirupati during the specified period.
2. Train No. 16058 (Tirupati - Chennai Central Sapthagiri Express): The train departing from Tirupati at 06:05 pm will be partially cancelled between Tirupati and Renigunta from the 15th to the 31 of May 2024.
3. Train No. 16053 (Chennai Central - Tirupati Express): The train departing from Chennai Central at 02:25 pm will be partially cancelled between Renigunta and Tirupati during the specified period.
4. Train No. 16054 (Tirupati - Chennai Central Express): The train departing from Tirupati at 10:10 am will be partially cancelled between Tirupati and Renigunta from the 15 to the 31 of May 2024.
These changes are necessary to facilitate the ongoing engineering works and to ensure the safety of passengers and train operations. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and to check for updates from railway authorities during this period of partial cancellation.

Chennai Metro Services Disrupted

Meanwhile, Chennai Metro services between Meenambakkam and Airport stations on the Blue Line were disrupted due to a technical glitch. Passengers were advised to switch trains at Arignar Anna Alandur station on Wednesday. Direct trains from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro to the Airport were also canceled for the day.
Chennai Metro Rail announced via X (formerly Twitter) about the technical glitch causing disruption and advised passengers to use the Green Line to interchange at Arignar Anna Alandur station for Airport travel. Both Green and Blue Lines are operating normally except for the affected section.
