Chennai: Tamil Nadu’s capital city woke up to the sound of thunder, which is expected to lead to moderate rain throughout the day, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). A yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning has been issued for Chennai, offering potential relief from the sweltering heat the city is currently experiencing.
According to a solo weather forecaster on X, the moisture drag created by the east-moving circulation could trigger heavy rains over most of Kerala and parts of southern Tamil Nadu. Some areas in the Delta region may experience intense thunderstorms today. Chennai and its suburbs are likely to see light to moderate rains during the morning hours.
