Delhi government has announced the summer vacations for all schools across Delhi. The schools will remain closed till June 30, 2024, amid severe heatwave conditions. The state government directed all private and government schools to announce early summer holidays.
The government said in the notice that all heads of the schools of DoE were directed to observe summer vacation from May 11 to June 30 however it has been observed that some of the government aided and unaided recognized private schools are still open during heatwave
"Therefore, all the heads of govt. aided and unaided recognised private schools of Delhi are advised to close the schools for summer vacation with immediate effect," the notice read. Students, parents and teachers are advised to take note of it.
The state has seen a rise in temperature in the past few days. On Sunday, the highest temperature recorded at 44.4 degree Celsius and on Saturday, the temperature was 43.6 degree Celcius.
IMD has predicted heatwave in many parts of Delhi and severe heatwave in other areas, issuing a red alert for the next five days in the national capital, reported PTI.
Apart from Delhi, Punjab government has also ordered closure of schools from today, May 21, 2024, onwards till June 30, 2024, due to rise in temperatures. Haryana government has decided to change the school timings from May 18 to May 31 . Noida schools up to Class 8 will remain closed from May 20 onwards. The reopening date is not yet announced.
