PM Modi, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani Among BJP's 50 Names In UP For Lok Sabha Battle | Full List

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday announced its first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be contesting from Varanasi for the third consecutive time.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday announced its first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be contesting from Varanasi for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile, other key BJP candidates contesting from Uttar Pradesh are - Union Minister Smriti Irani, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Ajay Kumar Teni.
Out of 80 seats Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP announced the names of 50 candidates so far. Other prominent leaders fielded from UP are - actor-turned-politicians Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Lallu Singh and Ravi Kishan.

Of 195 candidates, 34 are union ministers. Meanwhile, two former Chief Ministers - Biplob Kumar Deb and Shivraj Chouhan - are also given Lok Sabha tickets.
"The names of 195 candidates have been finalised. The list includes 47 youth candidates, 28 women candidates, 27 Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, 18 Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and 57 OBC/Backward Class candidates. The party has announced the list keeping all communities in focus," said BJP leader Vinod Tawde while announcing the names.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will contest from Gandhinagar while Mansukh Mandaviya will contest from Porbandar. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar will contest from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram.
Sarbanada Sonowal will contest from Dibrugarh and Kiren Rijiju from Arunachal Pradesh. Former External Affairs minister, late Sushma Swaraj's daughter Bansuri Swaraj has been fielded from New Delhi.
