Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police sent a team to Arunachal Pradesh following the deaths of three individuals from Kerala found under mysterious circumstances. The deceased, identified as a couple from Kottayam, Naveen and his wife Devi, along with their friend Arya from Thiruvananthapuram, were discovered in a hotel room in Hapoli, the district headquarters of Lower Subansiri on Tuesday.
Speculations about the involvement of black magic surfaced when Soorya Krishnamoorthy, a noted art connoisseur and a family friend of the couple, told the reporters concerns of Devi's father, who believed that the trio fell victim to black magic practices.
"They came to know about the deaths in the afternoon. He (the father) told me that the couple had fallen into the trap of black magic. All three who died were well educated. So, it is a serious issue if they have fallen into such a trap. Awareness needs to be created against it in the public," Krishnamoorthy added.
The Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, C Nagaraju, explained that the investigation is in its preliminary stages. He emphasised that while there were unusual aspects to the trio's behaviour, attributing their deaths to black magic was premature without an examination of their mobiles and other electronic devices. "We cannot say it was due to black magic or something like that. Our team will go there tonight. After the procedures are completed, we can bring the evidence from there. So it will take some time," Nagaraju said.
