Lucknow: In a horrific incident in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur, a 30-year-old man was shot in front of his daughter on Monday. The child was sitting on the man's shoulder when he was shot from a close range, reports said.
The child's father Shoaib, who is undergoing treatment for a critical bullet injury following the incident, was reportedly attacked by a gang including a relative over an old rivalry. Shoaib was in Shahjahanpur to visit his ancestral house and the gang used the opportunity to attack him over the unsettled enmity.
The shocking attack was caught on a CCTV camera, which greatly helped the police to nab two of the men involved in the incident. The footage showed the father-daughter duo passing through a narrow line when a man appeared on the opposite side. As he got closer to them, the man pulled out a handgun and shot Shoaib at close range, NDTV said in a report.
As the father collapsed, the girl also fell down from his shoulder. However, she didn't suffer any serious injuries. The attacker, meanwhile, wasted no time and fled the spot by hopping onto a motorbike that was awaiting him nearby, the report added.
The CCTV footage helped the cops to identify the motorbike used by the assailants and nab two of them at the earliest.
"Two of the accused, Gufran and Nadeem, have been arrested. The bike has also been seized. Special teams have been formed to track down the third accused Tariq," senior police officer Ashok Meena reportedly told NDTV.
It wasn't immediately known if it was Shoaib's relative himself who pulled the trigger.
