In a shocking incident in an Andheri (East) housing society, a 10-year-old girl underwent a two-hour operation, getting 45 stitches, after suffering severe dog bites from a neighbour's German Shepherd. Her parents identified as Rupesh and Xingxing Kumar have filed a case against the dog owners, leading to an FIR under Section 154 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
This is the third instance of dog attacking residents in the society. Reportedly, the incident took place on November 27 at Lodha Eternis society in Andheri (East). Xingxing recounted the event, stating that their daughter, visiting a friend in building number five, was bitten when the friend's dog escaped through an open door. The dog bite became severe when neighbours informed the Kumars of the attack. The child was immediately taken to Hiranandani Hospital for a two-hour operation to address a deep wound on her left calf, as per a report by TOI.
Society secretary Gurpreet Singh Uppal detailed the subsequent actions taken. Rupesh sought assistance, providing distressing images of the bites. Seeing the severity and considering it the third attack, Uppal urged Rupesh to file an official complaint with the society office and an FIR. The dog's owner who is a tenant since April 2023, was summoned to the society office, remaining unapologetic and even threatening a counter-FIR, the report further stated.
