Conor McGregor suffered an injury while training for his UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler. McGregor is now set to remain on the sidelines for a while, and in the meantime, Dana White has confirmed a new co-main event for the UFC 303 show, featuring Alex Periera as well as Jiri Prochazka.

Conor Mcgregor fans look away, the Irishman has suffered an injury that is set to rule him out of his comeback fight against Michael Chandler. McGregor was training for the highly anticipated match, three years on, since his last fight.
However, an undisclosed injury sustained by the 'Mystic Mac' means that Dana White was forced to announce a new main event for UFC 303.
White was able to put together an unbelievable rematch between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka for the light heavyweight title. The Brazilian stepped in on short notice to write a second chapter in their rivalry, he had defeated the Czech in November 2023 to claim the then-vacant 205lb title.
McGregor's injury meanwhile is not as serious as reported initially and it is believed that the Notorious One could be back at the Octagon in nearly two months' time. Earlier, the press conference for the UFC 303 was also cancelled, just 12 hours before it was scheduled to take place.
With McGregor and Chandler now out of the equation, the UFC 303 main event will see Pereira taking on Prochazka. The Brazilian is the only fighter in UFC history to win both the middleweight and light heavyweight title belts.
He won seven fights in 736 days, which in itself is an incredibly short spell for having held such prestigious belts. In the last 10 of his 11 fights, Alex is has registered impressive victories.
Elsewhere, Prochazka, the fighter stands at 30-4-1, including 23 first-round wins. He has registered 25 knockout wins and holds a brutally scary 97% finish rate via submission.
Furthermore, the UFC 303 co-main event will also feature featherweight Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes. Ortega has both the second most finishes and submissions in his weight category, as he holds a record of 16-3 including eight submission wins.
His opponent also has an impressive 22 of 24 win record including 10 knockouts and 12 submissions with an overall 24-6 record.
The UFC 303 will take place in Las Vegas on June 29, as the show must continue, even though fan favourite McGregor continues to recuperate from his injury.
