  • Curry pens one year extension worth $63m
  • NBA's three-point leader to earn $178m for next three years
Stephen Curry has agreed to extend his stay with the Golden State Warriors for one more season, penning an extension until the end of the 2026-27 season. The one-year extension worth nearly $63m will see the NBA's all-time three-point leader continue his glorious stint with Golden State.
There was plenty of speculation regarding Curry's future amid links to LeBron James' LA Lakers as the dynamic duo led Team USA to the gold medal in Paris Olympics. However, according to Curry's agent, Jeff Austin the extension is completed and he will remain with Golden State.
The legendary three-point shooter is guaranteed to earn in the region of $178m for the next three years. For the upcoming 2024-25 season Stephen will pocket $55.8m, while his earnings will increase to $59.6m for next year, and then $62.6m for the 2026-27 season.
Curry has been with Golden State Warriors for his entire NBA career. 16 years on after his debut in the league, the 36-year-old has won four championships to add to his 10 All Star and 10 All NBA selections. The two time MVP averaged 26.4 points last year for the Warriors.
After the conclusion of the upcoming 2024-25 season, Stephen Curry's on-court earnings from Golden State will skyrocket to $532m, he has the second-most lucrative contract in NBA history behind the legendary LeBron James whose earnings stand at $580m.
With a career average of 24.8 points in regular season games, Curry has proved his weight worth in gold over and over again throughout the past seasons. He was instrumental in Team USA's gold medal victory over France as the three-point shooting expert dished out an inspirational display in the fourth quarter.
The star guard was forced to sign an extension for just one year given the NBA's over-38 rule. NBA teams cannot offer more than four year long deals to players over the age of 38, while Curry will be 38 in the year 2026. Earlier, he had already stated his desire to remain at Golden State for the rest of his life.
