NBA: Lebron James is A name that is synonymous with legendary is just 9 points away from doing the unfathomable. He is poised to become the first player in NBA History to reach the exclusive 40,000 points scored landmark. In the game against the Washington Wizards on Thursday night, Lebron started the game 40 points shy of the landmark and ended the night with 31 to his name in over 38 minutes played on the night.
There will always be those who disagree on the ‘G.O.AT’ conversation but what Lebron has achieved in his career which has now panned over more than two decades is something that has never been done in the history of any sport around the world. No player has ever been at the top of the game for 21 years in a row which in all honesty is an oversimplification of Lebrons’ impact on the league.
It has been more than a year since The King took the crown of NBA’s All Time Leading scorer when he overtook Kareem Abdul Jabbar (38,387 points) in a game against the OKC Thunder on February 7, 2023. This milestone will be a testament to James's incredible consistency and longevity. Drafted first overall in 2003, he has dominated the league for over two decades, averaging over 27 points per game throughout his career. His scoring prowess is matched by his all-around game, making him a true force on the court.
Although the Lakers started the game in full momentum from their epic victory over the Los Angeles Clippers yesterday night, a game in which Lebron James took over the fourth quarter and outscored the Clippers team 19-16 on his way to helping the Lakers complete a 19 point comeback. The Washington Wizards just did not go away throughout the game, stretching the Lakers defense thin and taking the game to overtime. Anthony Davis was the star player of the game for the Lakers as he dropped 40 points on the night with help from Lebron and D’Angelo Russell.
Lebron once again took over in the clutch time as he hit a block before draining a three pointer in the final few minutes of over time helping lakers cut a three point deficit. Grit and determination was shown by the team as they climbed over the tough hurdle and won the game with a score of 134-131. The Lakers are currently at 10th place in the table with a record of 33-28. Lebron will be vying the game against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night to reach the historic feat.
