KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • This is India's last series before the 2023 WC
  • India and Australia will play each other in their opening WC match too
India will face Australia in a three-match ODI series in what will be the final assignment in the 50-over format for both teams before the 2023 World Cup. Ironically, both teams are set to open their campaign in the mega event against each other in a blockbuster clash on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The series is a vital one for both teams, as India will look to continue their momentum after winning the 2023 Asia Cup, while Australia will look to restore confidence in their ranks after losing the ODI series to South Africa. The visitors have been given a major boost as Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, and Mitchell Starc are back from injuries. However, they have lost the services of Travis Head, who is a major doubt for the World Cup due to a broken hand.
The series will start in Mohali on September 22 before the teams travel to Indore. The series finale will take place in Rajkot on September 27.
