Mayank Yadav proved the cricketing world that his sheer pace and his debut performance against Punjab Kings was no fluke as the 21-year old speedster once again delivered for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) an eye-catching performance to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday in the match 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The West Delhi guy conceded just 14 runs in his 4-over spell and took the wickets of Australian stars Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green along with India cricketer Rajat Patidar. He was the most economical bowler of the match with an economy of only just 3.50.
In his very first over, Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis was run-out following a brilliant throw by ex RCB man Devdutt Padikkal.
The 21-year old's first wicket of the match was Glenn Maxwell's wicket. The Australian hurried to execute a pull shot against a 151 kmph short-of-length delivery. However, he mistimed it, resulting in the ball striking the higher section of the bat and popping up in front of mid-on. Nicholas Pooran swiftly moved in and comfortably caught the ball to complete the dismissal.
The second wicket made fans exult in jubilation as he dismissed Cameron Green with a reaper of a delivery. A speedy delivery, just short of a good length, angled in and moved slightly off the pitch, causing Green to misjudge the line. With his feet planted and positioned towards the leg side, the all-rounder failed to connect with the ball, which clipped the top of off stump after evading the outside edge.
His final wicket came in the 15th over, where he dismissed under-performing batter Rajat Patidar. Patidar lost control of his stroke as Mayank delivered a short ball outside off. Despite attempting a pull shot, the India cricketer could only muster a top-edge. Padikkal, stationed at deep backward square leg, positioned himself under the swirling ball and secured the catch safely.
Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants put up a target of 182 runs on the board and RCB in reply were bundled out for 153 runs.
Mayank Yadav was adjudged as the Man of the Match yet again and at the post-match presentation said that he enjoyed Cameron Green's wicket the most.
''I enjoyed Cameron Green's wicket the most'', he said.
