T20 World Cup: Babar Azam's Ex Teammate Warns PAK Skipper & Mohammad Rizwan Ahead Of Pakistan vs Canada Match

Canada's star pacer Kaleem Sana has issued a warning to Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan ahead of their T20 World Cup 2024 match at Nassau County International Stadium. This is a must-win match for the Men in Green, following their back-to-back defeats on the hands of USA and India.

Canadian fast bowler Kaleem Sana aims to challenge Pakistan's openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in their upcoming encounter scheduled for Tuesday, June 11. Pakistan will compete against Canada in their third match, set to take place at Nassau County International Stadium in New York.
The 30-year old Sana represented Pakistan in 2010 during his under-16 tenure and was also a member of the U-19 team. He shared the dressing room with current Pakistan captain Babar Azam for eight years.
“Since I bowl with the new ball, so my targets will (obviously) be Rizwan and Babar. Babar was in the rival team, while I played my last first-class match in Pakistan,” he added.
Sana missed the 2010 World Cup due to a back injury sustained before the tournament. This significantly affected his bowling speed, and as a result, the left-arm pacer was unable to participate in many matches for Pakistan.
“When I got selected for Pakistan U-19 team in 2009, it felt great," Sana added. “Even during U-19 days, it was my dream to play for Pakistan’s national team'', he told.
Pakistan enter this match following two consecutive defeats to the United States and India. This contest is crucial for the Men in Green to maintain their hopes of advancing to the Super 8. Conversely, Canada come into this game after securing a victory against Ireland, having won one of their two matches in the big-ticket event.
Pakistan and Canada faced off once before, in the early days of the format. In that match, Salman Butt led Pakistan to a 35-run victory over Canada in 2008. Shoaib Malik was the captain of Pakistan during that game.
No one can predict Pakistan's next move following their humiliating defeat to India in the 2024 T20 World Cup. It's possible that Pakistan will bench Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim, who did not perform well against India. They might bring in Saim Ayub or Azam Khan for the upcoming match.
Pakistan are anticipated to be the heavy favorite for the match. However, Canada are not expected to be an easy opponent. Pakistan need a convincing victory and will aim to play with determination in their upcoming game.
