Sevilla legend Jesus Navas has entered into a distinctive lifetime contract with the club. Under this agreement, the Spaniard will continue playing until December 31 before transitioning into a role within the club. Navas is celebrated as a true icon for the Andalusian side, boasting an impressive record of 4 Europa League titles and 2 Copa del Rey triumphs. His journey with Sevilla began at the tender age of 15, as he progressed through the club's youth system.
After departing for Manchester City and returning to Seville four years later, Navas has remained loyal to the club ever since. Sevilla honored his contributions by naming one of their training grounds after him. Navas went on to become the most capped player in the club's history. Now, he has committed to remain with the club for life.
"The player and the President have come to an agreement for him to extend his playing contract until 31 December 2024 before taking on a role inside the club."
"Club president, José Mar?a del Nido Carrasco and Jes?s Navas have agreed that the Sevilla legend will renew his contract until 31 December 2024. After hanging up his boots he will take up a position within the club for life," read the statement.
Navas had a heartfelt message for the fans, expressing that he didn't hesitate when presented with the offer. The 38-year-old declared his decision not to accept any salary until December 31, with the funds instead being donated to a foundation.
''My desire, which I have communicated to the President, is to continue playing until December in a transition to continue helping the team. Then I will hang up my boots having lived the dream that I always dreamed of playing for'', he added.
“In the my final few months as a professional footballer I will not earn my salary. Instead, the money will be donated to a foundation which has been agreed with the president. That is my decision. I want the fans to know everything," Navas further added.
