UFC 300 is perhaps one of the biggest and most looked forward to events in UFC history. Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway, two of the biggest and baddest fighters in their division, battled it out over five rounds for the coveted BMF Championship and it was Holloway who won the bout by knockout in the last second of the final round.
Despite dominating from the starting bell of the first round and having a victory secured, Max Holloway decided that was not enough for him as he straight up challenged Gaethje to square up in the center of the octagon. This was obviously a huge risk for Max who already had the bout wrapped up but the risk paid off in tremendous fashion. The two prized fighters stood face to face and exchanged blows until Holloway caught Justin with a solid right which sent Gaethe tumbling to the canvas and resulted in Max Holloway registering his 22nd win tying him for the fourth most wins in UFC history.
Max Holloway started the bout exceptionally well and carried the momentum throughout the five rounds. It was some exceptional footwork on display by one of the greatest fighters in history who did not let Justin Gaethje gain momentum throughout the five rounds. Holloway drew blood in the first round with a vicious strike to Gaethje’s nose.
Justin Gaethke deserves his flowers for an exception performance against one of the most seasoned veterans in the company. Despite being on the receiving end for most of the bout, Gaethje did find a moment of vulnerability in the fourth round but was not able to capitalize on it. Justin Gaethje also became the first fighter to ever put Holloway on the canvas as it was the first knockout he suffered since his UFC Debut.
