KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Damien Priest will his world championship against Drew McIntyre when he is fit
- Drew is down with an elbow injury
- He won the title at Wrestlemania 40 for just 5 minutes
Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase at Wrestlemania 40 to walk out of the show as the World Heavyweight Champion. Damian, who lost his Undisputed Tag Team Championship on Wrestlemania Saturday, was quick to come out with his briefcase after CM Punk attacked Drew McIntyre. McIntyre had defeated Seth Rollins to win the title.
Damian successfully cashed in his title opportunity and captured the gold for the first time. He has defended his title against Jey Uso, but McIntyre hasn't got a rematch.
The Scottish superstar is set to get his rematch as soon as he gets cleared. McIntyre kicked off this week's Raw and took part in a segment with Damian. The champion confirmed that he will give a match to McIntyre when he gets fit.
McIntyre is out of action due to an elbow injury. He was ruled out of the King of the Ring qualification matches due to the same reason and is hoping to get fit for Clash at the Castle, scheduled to take place in his home country on June 15.
Will the match take place at Clash at the Castle?
While WWE has not provided any update about the championship match, it will take place at Clash at the Castle if McIntyre gets fit by then. It will be an opportunity for him to finally win the world championship in front of his home crowd.
He was on the cusp of ending Roman Reigns' title run and becoming the Undisputed Universal Champion at the same event in 2022 when Solo Sikoa made his debut. Solo helped Roman retain the title.
More than a year later, McIntyre finally won the world championship in front of the crowd but his title reign lasted just over five minutes at Wrestlemania 40.
No match for Damian Preiest at King and Queen of the Ring?
There is no news about Damian's opponent for King and Queen of the Ring scheduled to take place on May 25 in Saudi Arabia. There could be a case that the title might not be defended at the premium live event.
Cody Rhodes, who won the Undisputed WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 40, will defend his title against Logan Paul in the main event. Logan is the United States Championship and both titles will be on the line.
The winner of the main event will walk out of the show with the Undisputed WWE Championship and the United States Championship.
