Stone Cold has addressed the possibility of having another WWE match. The WWE Hall of Famer originally retired from the in-ring action in 2003. 19 years later, Stone Cold came out of retirement and faced Kevin Owens at Wrestlemania 38. There were reports of him having a match at Wrestlemania 39 too but the plans didn't materialise. He wasn't part of Wrestlemania 40 either.
Stone Cold has all but confirmed that he is done with wrestling and has nothing to prove to anyone. "I walked away. I’m happy with what I did. There are people who have done more and lasted more, but I’ve had a good career and I’m happy with it. I have nothing to prove to anyone," he said in his biography on A&E.
Stone Cold was forced to retire in 2003 due to his neck issues. He lost to The Rock at Wrestlemania 19. Stone Cold and The Rock locked horns in three Wrestlemanias. The Rock's win at Wrestlemania 19 was his first against Stone Cold at the Show of the Shows.
Stone Cold has been with WWE since then. He made multiple WWE appearances from 2003 to March 2020. In 2022, Stone Cold accepted Kevin Owens' invitation to appear on the KO Show. He also accepted Owens' challenge and squared off against him in an impromptu match.
Stone Cold got to wrestle in his hometown, Dallas, and he defeated Owens in the main event. He hasn't made any WWE appearances since then.
Stone Cold was a notable absence from Wrestlemania 40. The Rock, John Cena and The Undertaker made their presence felt during the main event but Stone Cold wasn't part of the show.
Stone Cold's accolades
Stones Cold is the only WWE superstar to win the Royal Rumble thrice. No superstar is ever expected to break this record. He is a six-time world champion in WWE. He won the Intercontinental Championship twice. He also won the tag team championship four times.
Stone Cold is one of the greatest and most popular superstars of his time. He stepped up in the Attitude era and played a key role in WWE competing with WCW. Slowly and steadily, WWE defeated WCW. In 2001, WWE bought WCW.
Stone Cold remained a top star after the end of the WWE-WCW rivalry but faced competition from many superstars. He was forced to retire from in-ring action following his match against The Rock in 2003.
