The ICC's attempt to promote cricket in the United States of America by giving them the partial rights to host the T20 World Cup 2024 might have been overshadowed by the controversies related to the drop-in track at New York, but US batsman Aaron Jones thinks that it has done the game a world of good. Jones sat down to record a podcast with former English skipper Michael Vaughan and former Aussie wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist and shared his views on how cricket is developing in the states.
Michael Vaughan reposted a clip from the podcast on his social media handle which showcases Adam Gilchrist poking fun at the former English skipper. Vaughan asked Jones about the concept of Bazball and if the people in USA know about it. To which Jones replied, 'I don't think so, No, the only people that really actually talk about Bazball would be like the Asian guys and stuff, but not the local people for sure'.
Adding on this, Gilchrist said, 'You won't offend anyone on this podcast if you just say shut up Vaughany, you are full of shi*t, you won't offend anyone'. This got all the people on the podcast cracking, Michael Vaughan who also is an important member of this podcast politely requested Aaron Jones not to say it.

Jones was later asked about how the latest edition of the T20 World Cup helped cricket grow in the states. To this, Jones said 'To be honest with you, I don't think you have a limit. We all know that USA is a very big country as it relates to sport and I think that when the actual American, born and raised people get on board fully with cricket is gonna be crazy. I honestly think it's gonna be crazy over the next couple of years. Even right now like I get a lot of DMs and stuff from Americans who really and truly don't know about cricket. They're just saying we watch the game, we really and truly love it and we want you to give us more insight on the game. This is a good thing, so I think right now, the World Cup being here is a really good start and then obviously Major League should play for years to come and that is gonna be good as well'.
