There are just two games remaining in each team's regular-season schedule for the 2023–24 NBA season. While some clubs are vying for position, others have secured a postseason berth. Additionally, a few clubs have purchased tickets for the NBA Play-In Tournament in an attempt to advance to the postseason.
In their quest to retain their championship, the Denver Nuggets have secured the top slot in the Western Conference. In the second half of the season, the Nuggets outperformed the Minnesota Timberwolves and OKC Thunder in the standings, playing like champs.
For the majority of the season, however, the Boston Celtics held the best record in the league. In the event that they advance to the NBA Finals, they will have homecourt advantage for the whole postseason. The Boston Celtics secured the top slot in the Eastern Conference, as was already reported. In addition, the following teams have earned postseason tickets: the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, and Indiana Pacers.
The Miami Heat or the Philadelphia 76ers will also make it to the postseason. The No. 7 seed will advance from their matchup, and the loser will face the victor of the other Play-In Tournament encounter. The Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Los Angeles Clippers placed in the top four, with the Denver Nuggets earning the first seed in the Western Conference. There are two other teams in the postseason: the New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks.
The Phoenix Suns must defeat their opponent in the Play-In Tournament in order to move on because they are predicted to finish at No. 7. In the last two games of the season, the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and Los Angeles Lakers are still battling it out for place.
The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers will compete for the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference. The loser will play the winner of the Atlanta Hawks vs. Chicago Bulls game to try to finish as the eighth seed.
In the meanwhile, the four Western Conference Play-In Tournament teams are the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors. Whoever occupies the No. 8 seed will have a homecourt advantage against the Suns. When the regular season comes to a close, the bracket will be decided.
