Grandma of Williams driver Alex Albon fulfilled "one of her dreams" when she greeted Lando Norris of McLaren at Narita airport. As drivers were traveling to the Narita Airport in preparation for Fl's trip to Suzuka for this week's Japanese Grand Prix, an unexpected fan called Norris, a fellow driver Albon's grandma. The latter posted a screenshot of their photo together with the screenshot of their chat with his grandmother on social media.
She acknowledged identifying herself as Alex Albon's grandma and singling out Lando Norris. She also mentioned that meeting the McLaren driver fulfilled one of her aspirations. In order to ensure that "Lando won't think an old lady just made a claim to take a photo with him," she asked Albon to inform Norris about her.
People were pleased by Alex Albon's amusing and endearing discussion with his grandma, which caused a surge of comments to go off course on his post on x (previously Twitter). Here is how fans reacted:
Williams has failed to score a point in the season's first three rounds and is now fighting among the bottom five teams. Alex Albon was not able to score even though the team allowed him to drive Logan Sargeant's vehicle after the latter's mishap in FPI rendered it undriveable. The vehicle was slow in ra trim, the team said after the race.
Albon doesn't seem to have what it takes to compete at the top of the grid, but team owner James Vowles is optimistic about the driver's potential. He said that Albon has the ability to compete for the FI world title and that he is currently fairly confident.
"At the moment, I know from Alex that he gets the most out of the car at every moment. And never breaks when he comes under pressure. He also manages to deal with a difficult car. In my opinion, Alex has the qualities to become world champion. I really mean that," Vowles told Auto Motor und Sport.
